“Development which responds to the needs of the present without compromising the capacity of future generations to respond to their needs". 1987 - Mrs Gro Harlem Bruntdland, the Norwegian Prime Minister. What road transport policies should be pursued to encourage economic and social progress without jeopardising the natural balance of the planet? This is the fundamental question which we will be tackling together in all its aspects throughout this week of work and visits. The exhibition, technical sessions and the events organized on the fringes of the Congress are just so many different opportunities to meet the experts, professionals and contractors and to find assembled road industry players from around the world. In addition, several hundred students and teachers will be in attendance for the “Road professions awareness” day on 18 September.
