Salzburg Airport presents itself as a modern regional airport if the "EuRegio Salzburg", which creates jobs and plays an ever increasing role as a strong investor in the economy and the tourist industry.

Legal status

This is governed by the Articles of Incorporation from June 22, 1939, in their amended form dated July 13, 2000. Articles 4, 11 and 12 of the Articles of Incorporation were amended in accordance with a resolution passed by the Annual General Meeting held May 21, 2992.
The company is listed in the commercial register of the provincial court of Salzburg as entry number FN 61365v under the following name: Salzburger Flughafen GmbH
The registered offices and management of the company are located at Innsbrucker Bundesstraße 95, Salzburg 5020. The fiscal year is defined as the calendar year.

According to the Articles of Incorporation, the object of the company is:
1. The construction and operation of commercial airports in the city and province of Salzburg and all of the related ancillary facilities as well as their financing.
2. The company is also authorized to conduct any activities or invest in any companies with a similar object which are considered necessary or useful in carrying out these duties.

The capital stock amounts to EUR 22,000,000.00 and was distributed as follows at the balance sheet cut-off date of December 31, 2001:

Günther Auer of Salzburg is the sole executive and authorized signatory.

Karl Heinz Bohl, Roland Hermann and Rudolf Lipold are registered as authorized representatives of the company. Each represents the company in conjunction with another authorized representative.

Catchment Area

The market potential of Salzburg Airport the 150 km surrounding it comprises 4,023,000 inhabitants, whereby in Bavaria the inhabitants of Munich, Erding, Garmisch and Straubing are not included in that figure.

Economic Value

Salzburg Airport can only achieve success by collaborating closely with its partners and clients, the airlines. As most valuable partners and clients, Tyrolean Airways, Lauda Air and Lufthansa are of particular importance to Salzburg Airport.

Since Tyrolean and then a little later Lauda Air started to expand their flight network to start not only from Vienna or Innsbruck but also from Salzburg, the wish of Salzburg citizens, the economy and the tourist industry, to have more connections to important European destinations and economic centres could be fulfilled. The connections to and from Salzburg are being improved all the time. In 1990 there were 74 connections per week: today the airlines provide us with more than 200 per week. For a regional airport this is an extremely positive development and a true sign of quality which, in our networked world, has made Salzburg far more attractive to visitors.
Almost 1000 employees work in the immediate realms of the airport and for its partners. As a strong investor it has invested more than 110 million Euros from its own means. A study carried out by the University of Salzburg put the secondary profit the airport brings in for the region at 250 million Euro.
43.6 million Euros in tax value are directly caused by the activities of the airport.
