International Airport Astana Reconstruction Project
International airport Astana is an enterprise with a seventy-year experience of successful business on the aviation market of the Republic of Kazakhstan, rapidly developing concurrently with the capital itself.
The airport of the young capital of Kazakhstan is striving to accomplish more in the future and plans to become a "hub" - the central junction of air transportation on the Eurasian territory.
Growth of demand for international passenger and freight transportation services in the future is beyond doubt.
The majority of our potential clients find this junction attractive, first of all, due to economy of distance, and accordingly time of flight through the airport of Astana, which is saving up to three hours on routes from the capital to Europe. Long transit corridors also mean high expenses. For the airlines performing cargo flights on routes, which connect cities of Europe with countries of the Asia - Pacific region, this particular advantage of our airport position represents obvious interest. This statement is supported by the latest forecasts. With expected five percent growth of the passenger traffic volume in the nearest decade and a considerable share of transit movement in the direction from Europe to Asia-Pacific region through the air space of Kazakhstan, a certain share of this traffic can be accepted by the airport of Astana, as long as preferential conditions for carriers are arranged.
Another essential point is that development of the new airport in Astana stimulates progress of the tourist market, which at present is developed rather poorly. The international airport gives visitors the first impression of the country. A modern airport, which meets the requirements of passengers and provides convenient service, can promote development of tourism in Central Asia.
International airport of Astana reconstruction plan was found to be an economically sound project with high probability of financial success. As a result of this project implementation many aspects of the capital airport operations improve and opportunities of servicing large-capacity wide-body aircraft expand, which conforms to the State plan for development of transit potential of the Republic.
Modernization of Astana Airport had minimal influence on the environment. Although the number of flights at the airport is expected to rise substantially, the quality of air will not deteriorate, since windy conditions around of the airport immediately disseminate any concentration of chemical substances or particles. Noise will not be a significant factor either, because the airport is located far enough from city and the territory adjoining the airport will not be used for residential construction.
The city also benefit from the project by providing employment opportunities and performing modernization of one of the region's key transport centers.
