DAF Connect for self - repairing transport companies

DAF employs the ‘One stop shop’-formula. This means that a haulier can get everything relating to his truck fleet from DAF.
Especially for transport companies that carry out their own truck maintenance and repairs, DAF has developed a management system that gives a clear insight into truck costs, to optimise workshop efficiency and to automate parts management. With the development of Connect, DAF has been completely guided by market demands. The most important were a well organised presentation of the planning and maintenance data and costs per truck and easy integration of the system within existing IT infrastructures.
Complete overview
Connect gives, per truck, when maintenance and inspections should take place. The system also indicates if the necessary parts are in stock, gives ordering advice and places orders directly with the DAF dealer and potentially other suppliers. This means that parts are available for all work that needs to be carried out, which minimises the chance for errors and maximises efficiency.
Connect ‘tailored to fit’
DAF delivers to every customer a Connect system ‘tailored to their precise requirements’ and including all trucks, mechanics, maintenance schedules and the prices of parts and workshop requisites. Moreover, to give as complete a picture of costs as possible, maintenance planning for workshop ramps, shutter doors, tools and even fire extinguishers are included in addition to trucks and materials used.
Connect gives the self-repairing haulier a clear insight into which truck per kilometer is the most efficient, what the cycle time of stocked parts is, how high the efficiency of employees is, where work orders show a profit or loss, and what the total costs of the workshop are. As an option, modules are available that include the possibility for barcode scanning and the billing of work carried out by third parties.
Not all transport companies require such extensive reporting. Especially for smaller companies, DAF has therefore developed Connect Xpress, which targets optimal parts provision and registration.

DAF Trucks N.V. – a subsidiary of the American PACCAR Inc, one of the largest producers of heavy trucks in the world – is a leading producer of light, medium and heavy trucks with a market share in Europe*) of around 14% in the 15 ton plus category. Last year the company supplied a total of almost 61,000 trucks to the European and other markets. Moreover, DAF is leading in the field of services behind the product: Multi Support repair and maintenance contracts, financial services of PACCAR Financial and a first-class parts-supply service. Beyond this, DAF also develops and produces components such as axles and engines for bus and coach producers throughout the world. DAF Trucks N.V. has factories in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and in Westerlo (Belgium), more than 1,000 dealers and service points in Europe.
